My Chemical Romance bassist to pen comic for DC Comics

Mikey Way My Chemical Romance bassist, Mikey Way has just been tapped by DC Comics to write an 8 page story for an upcoming Halloween issue of one of their titles. The rumor is that it will have something to do with Batman but that isn’t confirmed yet at press time. MCR are currently taking time off after finishing their world tour in support of their most recent album, The Black Parade.

Frank Iero on tour with Leathermouth

MCR guitarist Frank Iero is using the break from My Chemical Romance to work on his other project Leathermouth, where he sings. Though Leathermouth have yet to release their first album, the band already has quite a following. If you're expecting them to be like MCR, you'll be in for a surprise. Go find them on MySpace, listen to a couple of songs and you'll see what we mean. Leathermouth is currently touring (August 20 - September 14) through the US, check their website for information about dates and tickets. on this tour, Frank also plays bass for Reggie and the Full Effect. Last month, MTV News broke the news that New Jersey's own My Chemical Romance would be recording a cover of Bob Dylan's "Desolation Row" for Zack Snyder's forthcoming "Watchmen" film and that the song would be the soundtrack's first single when it hits stores this winter. Gerard Way to remix The Cure

The Cure announce an EP of remixes of the first 4 singles taken from their imminent new album to be released digitally and on CD on the 13th September. Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance), Pete Wentz & Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy), Jade Puget (AFI), Jared Leto (30 Seconds To Mars) and 65 Days Of Static (who supported The Cure on most of their recent 59 date World 4Tour), have exclusively remixed the first 4 singles from the forthcoming studio album for this special EP, entitled ‘Hypnagogic States’, as follows: "The Only One" - remixed by Jared Leto (30 Seconds to Mars), "Freakshow" - remixed by Jade Puget (AFI), "Sleep When I’m Dead" - remixed by Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance) and Julien-K, "The Perfect Boy" - remixed by Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy).

MCR to cover Bob Dylan

Now that we’ve all seen the dazzling first trailer for next year’s 'Watchmen' flick, it has officially become my most-anticipated movie of 2009. And the news just keeps getting better, as director Zack Snyder has revealed exclusively to MTV News that the only post-1985 song in the film will feature one of today’s hottest bands. “My Chemical Romance is absolutely awesome,” the “300” director revealed. “And Gerard [Way] is a huge fan of ‘Watchmen’.” Like the classic graphic novel, Snyder’s film will span the decades utilizing a Forrest Gump-like soundtrack of period-evocative music from the turbulent Sixties, the me-decade Seventies and the awesome Eighties. But since the film ends in 1985, Snyder’s music needs to be capped after his Hendrix, Dylan and Simon & Garfunkel tracks have had their moments.
